Most oils have additives (detergents primarily but other compounds as well) which are not bio-degradable and are toxic. So while this oil may meet SAE standards for an SM 5w30 oil, I doubt it has any additives (which are beneficial for our cars). Also remember that while this oil may be bio-degradable, after 3,000 miles in our engines, it'll have plenty of hydrocarbons in it and chemicals which are not. Also notice their warning about using it with certain types of lined cylinders.
